Bat Guano goes through a mysterious record selection process before each episode of SwaG!.
Hours before broadcast he drinks a pot of coffee, lights candles, meditates, sprinkles goobah dust on his black cat bone, takes every fifth record from his collection and flings them about. He then cuts himself with the sharp edge of a particularly cheap pressing of an Archies record, mixes the blood with tears generated by Roy Orbison’s Greatest Hits, and puts this fluid in a vial for, we assume, later use. He picks up every fifth record from the floor, puts them in a pentagram formation... Then he indicated, with horrible shrieking, that we should leave the room.
A mix of maniac music with a dash of old-time jazz and groovy oldies is usually the result. No one knows why it seems to work; many claim, in fact, that it doesn’t work at all.
Here are two three-hour episodes recored live.
