Rod McKuen is sad. Sad because in these four episodes of Bat Guano’s SwaG! there are no McKuen recordings. At least, he didn’t hear any. Who knows, maybe he missed one.
The veteran radio broadcaster used to play McKuen’s verse almost every week. Once, he read McKuen’s work himself as a regular feature of the program. Mr. Guano would call him, “the greatest poet of our time.”
Rod McKuen knows that there are those who love him. And that the love he selflessly gives, sometimes cool like damp October leaves, or hot like a young girl’s pants, is just the thing to break up Mr. Guano’s extended sets of punk rock and abrasive weirdo music.
So Rod just sits in his den, listens to his old LPs, and sheds lonely tears on his understanding pussy.
