My name is Bat Guano. I have been a broadcaster for my entire life. If you had told me way back when I was first getting my mouth around a musty old ribbon microphone, that I’d be spending my golden years playing a lot of crazy music on a little Midwestern college radio station, I would have stared at you blankly before slapping you with my sticky and comically large lollypop.
But that’s what I seem to be doing. Why? Because I like it. I don’t get paid to do it. All I receive is the love of some and the confusion of others -- and both are more precious than gold to me.
If no one cared, however, I would feel the need to retire from this madness. You all have many more distractions than what old fogies like myself grew up with: Lol cats, Glenn Beck, iPads, American Idolatry, the ironic “love” of Journey, etc. Such a rich and varied existence must be so rewarding. How foolish of this old man to hope that you’d listen to an old dying medium.
But if you find the radio program Bat Guano’s SwaG! to be just as rewarding, and non-commercial radio a valuable medium, please pledge your support to WIDR-FM. Call (269) 387-6303 by the end of March 21. Or go here at any time and do it on your precious internets. Tell them you love SwaG!, or that you hate it, or that you WTF LOL FTW TEH SWAG!. Just don’t tell them that you don’t care.
Here are two recent broadcasts. Consider their worth and donate accordingly:
Bat Guano’s SwaG! broadcast of March 3, 2010.
